Getaway Place is located on the Northern Outer Banks of North Carolina in Corolla at Whalehead Beach.

Getaway Place officially opens for the first week of May, and closes at the end of November. However, we may be able to accommodate you and your family outside of this time frame. Please contact us if you would like to rent during the winter months.

While Getaway Place is only 2 streets down from the local fire & rescue station, the closest hospital is The Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head, NC. The Outer Banks Hospital is complete with a wide array of diagnostic services, with an ER & OR. However, some major emergencies may be flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, in Norfolk, VA.

The Timbuck II shopping center (with a Food Lion grocery store) is directly behind Getaway Place. A larger, more upscale Harris Teeter grocery store is just a few miles south of Getaway Place (near the Currituck Club Golf Course).

Yes! We even have a gas grill on the ground floor (it may need to be refilled however.) Please use caution when grilling. In case of an emergency, there is a fire extinguisher in the shed. Grilling on decks in prohibited by county ordinance.

We're sorry, Getaway Place is a non-smoking, no pet cottage during all rental weeks.

Getaway Place is managed by Stan White Realty. As such, we follow all of their rental policies. Some of these policies are listed below. For a more complete list, contact Stan White Realty's Corolla office at (800) 753-6200.

• The person who's name appears on the lease must be 24 or older.
• Only families or extended families are allowed. No civic groups, organizations, fraternities, etc. are allowed.
• Rental groups may not exceed occupancy limits.
• Stan White Realty reserves the right to terminate a lease at any time.

Additional fees may include (but are not limited to):

• Security deposit
• Pool heating fee (if heating is desired)
• Charges for damages or long distance calls.

Our occupancy limit of 17 people is strictly enforced.

Getaway Place's private pool is 14' x 28'. The hot tub can accommodate up to 7 people.

No, only local telephone service (with toll-free dialing) is provided. Cell phone service from major carriers (Verzion, T-mobile, Cingular, Sprint) is fair throughout the Outer Banks.

The closest major airport is in Norfolk, VA (ORF). There are no "shuttles" to the Outer Banks, you will need to rent a car.

Yes, you can take your 4x4 equipped vehicle to the north beach access, about 5 minutes north of Getaway Place (follow NC-12 north till the end of the road.) Please use extreme caution when off-road. The speed limit is < 25 mph through this area, and < 10 mph when close to beachgoers. All standard rules of the road apply. It is illegal to come within 500 ft of (or otherwise disturb) Corolla's wild horses. The off-road extension of NC-12 is the most patrolled road in the northern Outer Banks. We will not be held responsible for any mishaps that occur while off-raod. Standard open container laws apply and are stictly enforced.

Of course! At the end of your stay, Stan White Realty will provide you with a method to submit a non-refundable $35 tentative reservation fee for the next year. As with all of our repeat renters (continuous), Getaway Place is pleased to provide a 5% discount!
